Who's behind Tune In?
Lamonica Johnson founded Tune In in Dallas, Texas to give young people a mentor who speaks their language, through hip hop.

Lamonica Johnson
The New Generation Committee Non-Profit Corporation—Founder From an early age, I followed the example set by my mother: a commitment to serving others. That foundation shaped the path I carry forward today. Over the years, I have developed strong professional skills across customer service, bookkeeping, recruitment, research, and warehousing. Now, those skills are dedicated to a single purpose—advancing opportunity and support for the communities that need it most. My lifelong passion has always been music and dance. However, with no affordable instruction available in my community, I found myself drawn to the streets. I was fortunate. What ultimately kept me grounded was the guidance of a principled and prayerful mother who refused to let me veer from the right path. “Rather than spend ten years in law school working to release juvenile offenders, I made the decision to reach them earlier—before the system ever gets that far.” My mission is clear: to strengthen and empower underserved, underfunded, and disadvantaged communities—the same communities that shaped who I am today.
